Greetings! by Kim Stokes

We certainly can't complain about the weather this fall. As far as I'm concerned it has been perfect for providing many opportunities to Campanoe. Scott wrote about an Upper Dells trip last month but I just have to tell you about yet another trip there. It's one of our favorite places to go after the summer rush is gone. We have been trying to take our newlywed friends, Van and Rosanne on their first Campanoe outing all summer but we just couldn't get connected. So we had set a date for mid October to go boating in the Dells and just hoped for good weather. It turned out to be a stunning day.

The Dells landing near the dam that we use is very easy and well maintained. After putting in around 1 pm we motored upstream to a spot that we have spent many nights at and is our favorite float spot. It's too shallow and stumpy for most boats but perfectly protected and hidden for us. There is a nice beach and places to take adventuresome walks. It's a great place to take kids and pets. Oh darn, we didn't have either with us that day.

I like to cook and so does Van. Needless to say lunch was going to be a highlight, and it truly was . We layed the feast out on the table and all sat back and ate, talked, imbibed, laughed and floated for a couple hours. Every once in awhile someone would adjust our position with a stroke of a paddle just to make sure we were in correct sun position. We were asked twice by other boaters if we had any Grey Poupon! All the wine, fruit, smoked salmon, aged cheese and fresh baked focacia must have been too much to bear without a little tease.

After lunch we motored farther up stream to the Stand Rock attraction. The tour boat companies don't like it if you use their docks but there are plenty of spots to get out along the shore. From there we went to the seemingly abandoned Lost Canyon and walked the winding sandstone canyon trails. It's a spectacular place for a late afternoon stroll. If it hadn't been for the barking dog I heard off in the distance I truly would have felt lost.

By this time it was dark so we (meaning Scott and Van) clamped on our battery powered navigation lights and paddled the rest of the way back. It was balmy out and there was a full moon as well, which made for a delightfull and tranquil journey back to the landing. The boat you see in these pictures is the fully equipped demo boat we have for sale. Boat, trailer, tent, 2 cots, table, plus either a 2 or 5 HP Honda motor. Campanoe is built with the most durable and high quality materials available, providing years and years of maintenance free boating pleasure. It's ready to go and versatile enough to boat the intercoastal waterway in Florida outside your condo or a spontaneous inexpensive trip on a secluded river in Alabama where you don't see or need a hotel room. There's room for the kids, the dog and all your toys and gear.

We used our Campanoe a lot this summer, here are some shots of warm weather outings.

It was a guys night out at the annual Blues Festival in Madison on Lake Monona. They didn't even have to wait in line at a landing. They just stopped along the side of the road and slipped the boat in the water. It doesn't look like much chess was played.

Another lazy afternoon on the river . We free floated along the edge of a sand bar and went for a swim. Scott took this photo of me sunning on the front deck while he was floating alongside.
